H:32 in Berlin, a hub for FinTechs and start-ups, wanted a design for the 6th floor that reflects the innovative spirit of the building. The theme was "OCEAN." The challenge was to transform a total of approx. 80 meters of wall space into an inspiring world, rather than just painting it blue. The goal was to create figurative marine life, but not in a traditional aquarium style - instead, modern and artistically disrupted.
The Concept: Two TAPE OVER artists developed a series of murals acting like windows into a surreal underwater world. The concept is based on the fusion of organic and geometric. The sea creatures—from giant whales to floating jellyfish - were not depicted naturalistically but expanded and alienated through patterns. The animals consist partly of real volume (Graffiti) and partly of digital structures (Tape), symbolizing the connection between nature and technology.
The Execution: In this mixed-media project, two techniques complemented each other perfectly. They sprayed the bodies of the animals and the atmospheric backgrounds with soft gradients to create depth and volume and then worked with duct tape directly into and over the motifs. They enhanced the whales and fish with complex, graphic patterns and lines that act like a technical skeleton or an energetic aura. Across the various walls, a cohesive "school" of artworks emerged, accompanying employees through the hallway. We took the organic flow of the ocean and tape that structure into the creatures.
The Outcome: A vibrant wall series that turns the long corridor into a journey of discovery. The combination of soft, sprayed animals and hard, precise tape patterns creates a visual tension that brings energy to the workday.
Das Briefing: Das H:32 in Berlin, ein Zentrum für FinTechs und Start-ups, wünschte sich für die 6. Etage eine Gestaltung, die den Innovationsgeist des Hauses widerspiegelt. Das Thema war "OCEAN". Die Herausforderung bestand darin, insgesamt ca. 80 Meter Wandfläche nicht einfach nur blau zu streichen, sondern eine inspirierende Welt zu erschaffen. Es sollten bildhafte Meerestiere entstehen, die aber nicht wie in einem Aquarium wirken, sondern modern und künstlerisch gebrochen sind.
Das Konzept: Zwei TAPE OVER Künstler entwickelten eine Serie von Wandbildern, die wie Fenster in eine surreale Unterwasserwelt wirken. Das Konzept basiert auf der Verschmelzung von Organik und Geometrie. Die Meeresbewohner – von riesigen Walen bis zu schwebenden Quallen – wurden nicht naturalistisch abgebildet, sondern durch Muster erweitert und verfremdet. Die Tiere bestehen teils aus realem Volumen (Graffiti) und teils aus digitalen Strukturen (Tape), was symbolisch für die Verbindung von Natur und Technologie steht.
Die Umsetzung: In diesem Mixed-Media-Projekt ergänzten sich zwei Techniken perfekt. Zuerst wurden die Körper der Tiere und die atmosphärischen Hintergründe mit weichen Farbverläufen gesprüht, um Tiefe und Volumen zu erzeugen. Danach haben die beiden Tapeart-Künstler direkt in die Motive hinein- und darüber hinweggeklebt. Er versah die Wale und Fische mit komplexen, grafischen Mustern und Linien, die wie ein technisches Skelett oder eine energetische Aura wirken. Über die verschiedenen Wände hinweg entstand so ein zusammenhängender "Schwarm" aus Kunstwerken, der die Mitarbeiter durch den Flur begleitet.
Das Ergebnis: Eine lebendige Wand-Serie, die den langen Korridor in eine Entdeckungsreise verwandelt. Die Kombination aus den weichen, gesprühten Tieren und den harten, präzisen Tape-Mustern erzeugt eine visuelle Spannung, die Energie in den Arbeitsalltag bringt.
This is floor 6 inside H:32 - an office building for start-ups in the center of Berlin. We were asked to design several floors of this building. Thus, we decided to show our full artistic range. The topic of this floor is ocean. We combined TAPE ART and GRAFFITI to create an urban but abstract office design.
