In the middle of the desert, surrounded by sand and heat, we brought the ocean to the wall. At the Dubai Canvas Festival, our focus wasn't on optical illusion, but on visual energy. Our "FLYING MARLIN" is an attempt to capture the explosive power of this predator using a static medium.
The piece is a study in motion and fragmentation. The marlin's body isn't smooth and realistic but concists of straight tape lines only. We used the layering of differently colored tapes to simulate muscles, light reflections, and the fish's sleek skin.
He seems to burst forth from an abstract spray of lines and shapes. This background structure gives the image its speed. It is a clash of elements: the cool blue and dynamic forms of the water meeting Dubai's rigid architecture. The marlin stands as a symbol of power and elegance—a frozen hunting scene, constructed from kilometers of adhesive tape. We took the speed of the ocean and taped that momentum onto the vertical canvas.
Mitten in der Wüste, umgeben von Sand und Hitze, brachten wir das Meer an die Wand. Beim Dubai Canvas Festival ging es uns nicht um optische Täuschung, sondern um visuelle Energie. Unser „FLYING MARLIN“ ist der Versuch, die explosive Kraft dieses Raubfisches mit einem statischen Medium einzufangen.
Das Werk ist eine Studie über Bewegung und Fragmentierung. Der Körper des Marlins ist nicht glatt und realistisch, sondern besteht ausschließlich aus geraden Tape-Linien. Wir nutzten die Schichtung (Layering) von verschiedenfarbigen Tapes, um Muskeln, Lichtreflexe und die glatte Haut des Fisches zu simulieren.
Er scheint aus einer abstrakten Gischt aus Linien und Formen hervorzubrechen. Diese Struktur im Hintergrund gibt dem Bild seinen Speed. Es ist ein Clash der Elemente: Das kühle Blau und die dynamischen Formen des Wassers treffen auf die starre Architektur Dubais. Der Marlin steht symbolisch für Kraft und Eleganz – eine eingefrorene Jagdszene, konstruiert aus Kilometern von Klebeband.
